3 Days Akagera Safari to Akagera National Park
The 3 days Akagera safari itinerary explores Akagera national park giving you a chance of spotting the big five mammals, antelopes, reptiles, hippos, and birds. Akagera national park covers an area of 2,500 sq km with its swamp-fringed lakes, savannah, and thickets, making it an ideal habitat for wildlife including big five mammals and over 500 species of birds.
The big five mammals including Black rhinos and lions were re-introduced and are now thriving in the park. There are also large populations of elephants, zebras, giraffes, and at least 8 species of antelopes. In the lakes are Nile crocodiles and hippos.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera national park
You will meet your guide and depart Kigali early morning at 07:30 am. The drive is about 3 hours en route to Akagera you will stop in Nyakarambi village to see the beautiful artistic cow dung paintings. You continue to the park and have time to settle for lunch. After lunch at 2:00 pm, take the boat cruise on Lake Ihema to see hippos, and crocodiles and spot a variety of birds. The boat is about 3 hours you will return to the lodge at 6:00 pm sunset. Day 2: full game drives
Early morning at 06 am wake up to have a cup of coffee and get ready for the game drive. With a ranger, you expect to spot elephants, giraffes, buffalo, rhinos, lions and various antelopes. You will return for breakfast at around 11 am. In the afternoon, at 3 pm you go for another game drive safari to maximize your wildlife viewing experience till down when you return for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: return back to Kigali
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive back to Kigali. if you have your flight in the late evening, there will be a city tour of Kigali before departure.
