Frequently Asked Questions About This Tour

Are there any visa or entry requirements For This trip?

Yes, most nationalities need a visa for Uganda. The visa for Uganda costs $50. It is now advised to apply for your Uganda visa in advance. We will provide all the information you need to apply for these in the pre-departure information we send you upon booking.

Your passport needs to have at least 4 pages free for your stamps/visas and it needs to be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival in each country. You WILL need a Yellow Fever vaccination (or an exemption certificate from your doctor).

How difficult is this trip/what is the physical activity level?

This trip is not too demanding physically and only requires you to have basic fitness levels and to be healthy. The gorilla trek is medium difficulty with some scrambling and hiking through thick jungle. You can hire a porter to help you with the gorilla trek.

Is there an age limit for this trip?

The minimum age for the trip is 15.

There’s no upper age limit, however, we generally wouldn’t recommend this trip for anyone over the age of 80, given the physically demanding nature of the hikes though one can be carried to the gorillas using the stretcher and porters. So if you are in good health and are comfortable with a hike plus able to enjoy the company of a diverse age range then you are more than welcome to book this trip!

I want to extend my trip, is that possible?

Yes, it’s possible to extend your trip with a number of different activities including Chimpanzee trekking, Golden Monkey tracking, game park safari or mountain hiking among others. Let us know and we provide an extended itinerary and quote.

What luggage should I bring?

For your main luggage, you can bring a backpack or a suitcase, however backpacks are slightly more manageable and durable for travelling around Africa. Please don’t bring hard cases as we sometimes struggle to fit them in the safari cars. Only bring 1 big bag (we suggest no bigger than 80l) – even if your airline allows 2 x 23kg checked in bags. Space in our safari cars is limited, so if you bring 2 big bags your second bag will be the first one strapped to the roof.

You may be able to bring 2 smaller bags, if you want a large carry-on and a smaller checked luggage. As long as the total luggage capacity doesn’t exceed 80l. You should also have a smaller day pack that you can use daily and that you will bring in the cars with you
