Rwanda Gorillas Chimpanzees & Wildlife Vacation (7 Days Rwanda Safari)
This 7 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Chimpanzees and Wildlife viewing Safari is a Primates and Game park Rwanda Safari to Rwanda’s best parks of Akagera National Park, Nyungwe Forest National Park and Volcanoes National Park. The 7 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Chimpanzees and Wildlife viewing Safari takes tourists to engage in activities such as Gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee tracking and wildlife safari viewing .
You will begin your 7 Days Rwanda Safari adventure in Akagera national park which is a fantastic place to spot the big five African mammals such as lion, leopard, black rhino, African elephant and buffaloes. The park also features the largest protected wetland home to hippos and Nile crocodiles and a variety of 500 species of birds. Lion and black rhino were restored in 2015 following poaching that had eliminated them in the park. Leopard are shy but if you are lucky you will catch a glimpse of one the big five mammals.
7 days Rwanda Safari Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive at Kigali International Airport and Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred 3 hours to Akagera national park. En -route you will stop at Nyakarambi village to see Rwanda arts. You will check into your lodge and after lunch go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema to spot wildlife such as hippos, Nile crocodiles, birds and elephants. The boat cruise ends at 05pm on time for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game lodge
Day 2 : Game Drive and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Your game drive to explore the park starts at 06:30AM in the morning after a cup of coffee. A Ranger will escort you to search for black rhino, lion as well as spot elephants, buffalo, impalas, topi, giraffe, zebra and birds. The ranger will allow for relaxing time to talk walks through the park with lunch break. After lunch you will return to Kigali and then drive 2 hours to Volcanoes national park. Day 3 : Gorilla trekking and Village Walk
Enjoy early morning breakfast and you will head to Kinigi park offices at 07:30am for a pre-gorilla trek briefing. The terrain is steep comprised of jungle, Virunga volcanoes so you may hire a porter. You will then be led by expert Rwanda guides looking for the gorillas and you will spend 1 hour with these wonderful apes taking their photos. Return back for lunch.
After lunch, the evening will be spent outside the park at Iby’iwacu cultural center where you will meet local people to share stories, learn local culture.
Day 4 : Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Lake Kivu
Today, you will track golden monkeys after which you transfer to Lake Kivu for a boat cruise and relaxation on the beach. Golden monkeys are rare primates endemic to Virunga massifs. You will enjoy a morning trek in search of these rare primates returning to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon embark on your transfer to Lake Kivu where you will spend overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel/ Paladise malahide
Day 5 : Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
You will carry packed lunched to eat on the 6 hours journey to Nyungwe forest national park– home to a variety of 13 species of primates including chimpanzees as well as birds, plants, butterflies. Arrive and heck in your lodge enjoy the dense green surroundings. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe forest lodge/ Nyungwe top view lodge/ Gisakura guest house
Day 6 : Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
Early morning at 07:00 have breakfast and the head to Cyamudongo to begin your chimp walk. At 08am venture deep into the jungle with expert guides to spot chimps and learn about other primates such as colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys.
Taking a canopy walk through Nyungwe rainforest will offer you an amazing array of flora and fauna that lives in the tree canopies. The views are fascinating too. Return for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and transfer back to Kigali. upon arrival, you will have lunch and do a short city tour of Kigali sights such as genocide memorials before being transferred to Kigali airport for your onward flight.
