Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Etosha National Park Safari Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Your Hotel in Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet and greet with a representative from Engabi Tours and Travel who will welcome you to Uganda and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe Town. You will be briefed about the upcoming activities for your trip.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Today after breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park the home to Chimpanzees. This journey will give you an opportunity see beautiful landscapes, tea, banana plantations, homesteads, local people, farm lands among other things. You will arrive at the lodge in time for check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience

After your breakfast, your tour guide/driver will lead you to Kanyanchu park headquarters for briefing from the senior park ranger. At 8:00 am you will join the rest of other trackers and transfer to the starting point which is 2 Km away from the park headquarters. Most often chimpanzee tracking goes for 3 to 4 hours.

While in the forest you may interface with primates including the red-tailed monkey, L’Hoest monkey, baboons, white and black Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey, red Colobus, blue monkeys and pottos. Other animals include forest elephants unique from the common type, giant forest hogs and a striking tree species. Return to the lodge for lunch, later dinner and overnight.

 Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today after breakfast you will transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National park the home of gorillas arriving in time for Lunch and later dinner and overnight

 Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience

After a very early breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing on gorilla trekking rules. You are informed to wear hiking shoes, gloves and have a bottle of water before setting off into the forest. There you will enjoy seeing and taking photos of gorillas feeding after which you return on time for lunch at your lodge. Spend the rest of the evening at the lodge relaxing and later dinner and overnight

Day 6: Flight to Windhoek

Depending on the schedule of your flight, you will transfer to Kigali International Airport arriving in time to catch your flight to Windhoek. On arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, you will meet with representatives of Engabi Tours and Travel who will welcome you to Namibia and transfer you to your hotel in Windhoek for overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Etosha National Park and Afternoon Game Drive

Today after breakfast, you will drive Northwards towards Etosha National Park with a lunch break in Otjiwarongo. On arrival at the park, you embark on a game drive through the National park in search of wildlife such as elephants, rhino, zebras, various game (oryx, kudu, wildebeest, impala, springbok, gemsbok) giraffes, hyenas and big cats of Africa including lion, leopard and cheetah inhabiting the enormous grasslands. You will then transfer to your lodge just before sunset arriving in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Etosha National Park Game Viewing

After an early breakfast, you will head out for a game drive to allow to have a magnificent exploration as you visit the waterholes. You will visit the Etosha pan (salt pan) before game driving across the park in expedition of coming across the Big 4 and other animal species. You will have a light lunch and thereafter visit your last waterhole before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Swakopmund via Damaraland

Today after breakfast you will Depart Toshari Lodge driving through the communal lands of Damaraland where you will see the communal farmers in this arid region. You will stop at the Ugab River bridge to visit the beautiful Herero ladies who sell their small art and craft items to support their families. Thereafter you will have lunch in the shadow of the Brandberg Mountain and have a short visit with a Himba group who have moved into this area to sell their jewellery and other items. After lunch will drive directly through the Namib Desert and stop at the latest shipwreck on the Skeleton Coast before arriving late in the afternoon in Swakopmund. We recommend exploring this seaside town on foot this afternoon and perhaps visiting the jetty for sundowners overlooking the cold Atlantic Ocean.

Day 10: Transfer from Swakopmund to Windhoek

Today you will enjoy your breakfast at leisure and you have a number of optional activities you may join such as quad biking, sand boarding, dolphin cruise, scenic flight over the shipwreacks just to name a few. For those interested in birds your driver will be happy to take you to Walvis Bay to see the flamingoes in the Walvis Bay lagoon which is a proctected RAMSAR site for birds. You will then transfer to Windhoek in the afternoon with a light lunch served en-route and with a brief stop at the Okahandja Wood Carving Markets where you can haggle for locally produced goods from the carvers themselves. You will be dropped at your overnight accommodation in Windhoek for overnight or at Hosea Kutako International Airport marking if you have a late evening flight.
