5 Days Gorillas & Chimpanzee Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Today a representative from Engabi Tours and Travel will pick you from the Airport or from the agreed point of Pickup and transfer you to Kibale National Park the home to Chimpanzees. The 5 hours’ journey will give you an opportunity see beautiful landscapes, tea, banana plantations, homesteads, local people, farm lands among other things. You will arrive at the lodge in time for check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight at the Lodge of your choice.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

After your breakfast, your tour guide/driver will lead you to Kanyanchu park headquarters for briefing from the senior park ranger. At 8:00 am you will join the rest of other trackers and transfer to the starting point which is 2 Km away from the park headquarters. Most often chimpanzee tracking goes for 3 to 4 hours.

While in the forest you may interface with primates including the red tailed monkey, L’Hoest monkey, baboons, white and black Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey, red Colobus, blue monkeys and pottos. Other animals include forest elephants unique from the common type, giant forest hogs and a striking tree species.

After lunch you will embark on a nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary, an eco-tourism destination managed by local people. Their conservation story while on the nature walk to spot birds, primates gives you a look into how people live in harmony with nature. You may opt to visit the local homesteads before you return for dinner and overnight.

 Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today after breakfast you will transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National park the home of gorillas. The journey to Bwindi offers an amazing chance to spot wildlife via Ishasha wilderness. You will arrive in time for dinner and overnight at your lodge of your choice.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Today After an early breakfast, you will trans b transferred to the park headquarters from where you will meet your guides for briefing on gorilla rules at the park visitor center. You are informed to wear hiking shoes, gloves and have a bottle of water before setting off into the forest. There you will enjoy seeing and taking photos of gorillas feeding after which you return starting point for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi the home to a Thousand Islands.

Day 5: Boat ride and transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast with a view of the lake, take a boat ride to visit some of the famous islands such as Punishment Island, see otters, birds and zebra on another private island called Governors Island. Return back to your lodge check out and transfer to Kampala/Entebbe.
