How to apply for East Africa Tourist visas and individual countries visas of Rwanda,Uganda,Kenya and Tanzania is a question that lingers in every safari traveler to the East African Countries of Kenya,Uganda,Rwanda and Tanzania. The East African Tourist visa allows tourists to have uninterrupted travel across the three East African countries of Rwanda,Uganda and Kenya for 90 days. The East Africa Tourist visa can be got on arrival at Kigali international airport in Rwanda,Entebbe international airport in Uganda,Jomo Kenyatta international airport(JKIA)-Nairobi- Kenya , Moi international airport in Mombasa-Kenya and all land borders of Chanika,Katuna/Gatuna  and Kakitumba/ Gagitumba (Rwanda Uganda border point),Malaba and Busia(Kenya Uganda border points) after payment of  USD 100 or through online application and at the local Embassies of these countries in your home country. The East African Tourist visa is free to Foreign residents and expats with valid work permits.

Note that a East Africa tourist visa does not allow you work and can not be extended after the valid time of 90 days unless you first get out of the territory.

Rwanda/Uganda/Kenya/Tanzania.

  • Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda charges US$ 50 per passport while Uganda charges: US$ 100 per passport (In Kenya, VISA for Persons below the age of 16 years is free of charge). As for Congo has no online visa Application platform though one can pay for it on arrival at the Airport.
  • There is an East African Community single visa available for Kenya-Uganda-Rwanda, at the port of entries/airports for a fee of US$ 100 per passport.

Note: there are exceptions and different prices for different countries. Please refer to the immigration websites or the Embassy for specific information.

  • Also for guests combining Uganda and Rwanda on Engabi Tours safari, please note that only a single-entry visa for each country will suffice.
  • Guests visiting Kenya & Tanzania on a stay shorter than 24 Hours, can apply for a Transit Visa (delivered at the discretion of the Immigration officer) for a cost of USD 20 per passport.
  • Sample Documents will be needed to be filled in by the tourists on arrival in case you travel without a visa to East Africa. You will need to fill in a simple Visa application Form on arrival.
